Start Positions

What are Prime, Competitive & Preferred Start Positions?
A Prime / Competitive / Preferred Start Position is a preferential position when lining up at the start of the race. A Prime Start Position entitles the runner to line up immediately behind the elite runners while a Competitive Start position would be next, followed by those who qualify for a Preferred Start Position and finally everyone else will join the Mass Start behind all 'seeded' runners.
Note: Only available up to the end of normal registration.
Can I register for a Prime, Competitive or Preferred Start Position?

Runners need to qualify to be awarded one of these preferential start positions. If Premier Online already holds qualifying results records then your start position will be auto-assigned during registration. Otherwise to be awarded one of these places you MUST submit proof of a previous recorded time as follows:

Prime Start Position: Recorded time over a certified course not before 01 January (2 years prior to the event date) of 1hr:30min or less (men and women)

Competitive Start Position: Recorded time over a certified course not before 01 January (2 years prior to the event date) of 1hr:40min or less (men and women)

Preferred Start Position: Recorded time over a certified course not before 01 January (2 years prior to the event date) of 2hr:00min or less (men and women)

All proofs must be submitted through the Premier Online Help Center before the close of registration (15.12). No request after this date will be entertained. In the case of over-subscription, the fastest times will receive their chosen start position. Those who do not provide proof or do not make it into their chosen start area will be grouped in the Mass Start. Register early and get your time proofs in early!

All registered entrants must start in their correct seeded start area, identified by bib number and start gates. Starting in the wrong start area will be cause for disqualification.

I ran the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon last year - don't you already have my time?
Runners who completed the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon in less than 1hr:30min during either of the two previous editions (and registered themselves) will automatically be awarded a Prime Start Position. All other qualifying runners (and those who qualify but were registered by someone else) will have to indicate their preference during registration as their time performances may have improved since then.
How will I know if I have been awarded a Prime, Competitive or Preferred Start Position?
Your running bib will clearly indicate any preferential start position. This will be the only way of knowing as we do not inform people in any other manner.
